This qualification is designed for individuals working in community, home, or residential care settings, providing person-centred support under supervision and delegation as part of a multidisciplinary team. Support is delivered in line with individualised care plans to people who may require assistance due to ageing, disability, or other reasons.
Workers operate within the scope of their role and delegation, taking responsibility for their own outputs. They possess a combination of factual, technical, procedural, and some theoretical knowledge essential to delivering effective, person-centred support.
All skills must be applied in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice. To complete this qualification, learners must undertake a minimum of 120 hours of practical work as specified in the assessment requirements of the units of competency. At the time of publication, there are no licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements for this qualification.
Assessments may include online knowledge questions, case studies, projects, practical demonstrations, role plays, workplace documents, workplace observations, simulated workplace tasks, and evidence collected during work placement. To perform at your best, you will need to work on the assessments outside of class time.
